This Common Gentle Roll is Not a Common
Cleaner
The Gentle Roll sifter / cleaner shown below is one of the more common
models that is produced. The heavy duty construction includes a channel
iron frame, CNC cutting on parts to insure consistency and precise welding
on all connections. The frame and hoppers are mild steel and painted
industrial white. Dodge bearings, a Dorris speed reducer and a GE motor
mean quality and long life moving components. The common sense screen
covers are made of aluminum so they can easily be lifted off when changing
screens. That's where “common” ends for the Gentle Roll.
This is an excellent machine for many applications. The first two
screens can be used to remove fines. Screens three and four will allow
good product to go through and overs can be removed at the end. The
screens are all 48 inches long but the product will have contact with 6
feet of screen area for every one foot of forward motion because of the
internal rotating drum. When cleaning pellets or other extruded material
the rolling action actually conditions the product as it gently rolls
around and has the rough edges removed.
This single drum, four screen Gentle Roll will sift, scalp and
condition 1900 cubic feet of pellets per hour or 1500 bushels per hour of
corn or other grain.

A Common Gentle Roll / Sidewinder
Model
The Gentle Roll / Sidewinder combination shown below is another common
model but still unlike anything else on the market. This galvanized unit
that was recently built is removing fines only from pellets. As mentioned
in the above article, the pellets will be gently conditioned as they roll
through the cleaner. Then the Sidewinder Belt Drag conveyor takes over.
The Sidewinder allows the fines to be discharged at one end of the
conveyor and the good pellets to be discharged at the other. The unique
feature of this drag conveyor is complete cleanout from one side to the
other so there is no fear of cross contamination.
You may have just realized that The Sidewinder Belt Drag could have
uses in applications on its own. In fact the Sidewinder is a stand alone
conveyor in many shapes and applications. To find out more call
